Upon entering Golden Yan Foot Spa I was impressed with the energy of the place. Soothing, soft colors combined with exceptionally nice and warm people made me feel immediately at ease. Everyone was happy and clearly working together to make clients feel happy and relaxed, even before their treatment. After being greeted with smiles all around, I was given a glass of green tea and led to sit and warm up from the cold for a moment. Ian, Golden Yan Foot Spas manager, came to say hello and he was fantastic! Caring and warm, as everyone else was, he led me back to Jackie, who would be doing the foot reflexology.

It had been a particularly long week for me, working overtime, which means my feet were working overtime, so I was excited to try this hour-long foot reflexology treatment. The philosophy of reflexology is that pressure points on your feet relate to other parts of your body. So it is more than just a foot massage, it is a whole body experience. It started with Jackie putting my feet in a hot tub of water filled with herbs. This alone made my day. While my feet soaked (and prepared for what was ahead), Jackie massaged my back and arms for 15 minutes. It felt so good, I didn't want Jackie to stop. However, after 15 minutes, it did and Jackie asked me to sit with my feet up so that he could start massaging them. Using a little lotion, he worked on every part of my feet, every part of each toe and I swear when he rolled down my ankles to my heel, I could feel it in the top of my head. Jackie worked all the way up to my knees and then back down again with the most perfect and precise pressure everywhere he touched. Not only did it feel A-mazing, but Jackie continued to ask me if the pressure was OK and also to explain to me what parts of my body were affected when he was working on particular areas on my feet. My sinuses have been bothering me all week, so he spent a bit of extra time on areas that corresponded to my sinuses and head.

To say that I needed this hour of rejuvenating Reflexology would be an understatement! Jackie was amazing, the entire staff was welcoming and the spa, while not super plush, was clean (even the bathrooms- I checked!) and soothing. I will be back as often as I can- Golden Yan Foot Spa knows what to do!!
