Vartali
Salon (R)
48 East 57th , 2nd Floor
(212) 935-4640
Surrounded
by the likes of
Central Park
, Gucci and the Apple Store, Vartali Salon on
57th street
, is every girls dream. It is
located on the 2nd floor at 48 E 57th and has an
incredible view of the hustle and bustle of 57th and all that
the east side has to offer.
I
went to Vartali to experience a new color correction hair
service from Jim and left with so much more.
The first thing that struck me about Vartali, especially
being in the area that it is in, is how extremely friendly and outgoing
the entire staff was. Not only
that, but in all the business, no one seemed rushed or crazed.
Everyone was cool, calm, collected … that made me very
comfortable, very quickly! I
first met Nora- assistant manager of the salon.
She introduced me to Jim, my colorist and got me seated.
Jim
was fantastic! Equally as
nice, we spoke for about 10 minutes about my hair; the very old highlights
that were remaining, how good (or
bad!!!) I am at maintenance of my hair, and what I would like.
We agreed on all-over highlights using color, not bleach, (Did you
know that using bleach - your hair will continue to lighten as you are
outdoors, so it’s not a true coloring!?)
and somewhere in the auburn family.
When he went to get the color and foil, another girl came and took
my drink order. I also met Houri,
the salon manager- equally warm and friendly. Within minutes I had a
lovely ice water, my favorite mag, and Jim was already at work on my hair.
To be honest, I never did get past page 10 in Us Weekly as Jim and
I just hit it off- talking about everything.
He also works on the Today show every day styling the guests
and some of the anchors hair. He was
fantastic and so was my color. It
only sat for 15 minutes and then we did the unveiling…but wait,
there’s more.
I
was told that Antonio was going to blow dry my hair, and since he was
going through the motions anyway, why not get a trim first.
It didn’t take much convincing and I agreed.
Again, the people at Vartali shine, and Antonio was no
different. We spoke briefly
about my last hair cut, how thin my hair is, what kind of layer and bangs
I like and he went to work. While
blow-drying he didn’t ‘over-product’ my hair.
He used one spray to
boost some volume and that was it. By
the time he was done, I could hardly believe this was my hair!
Honestly ladies, this may be the best hair cut and color I’ve
ever had. The color was
subtle, yet lifted throughout, as if I’d spent 2 weeks in the Caribbean!
The cut had movement and flow and looked great on me.
The best part was that I felt like I had just spent a couple of
hours with friends. Before I left, I was able to show off my new do to
Houri, Nora, Jim and Antonio- it was a little like a scene out of Pretty
Woman… and that’s how I felt.
Vartali
Salon is an extremely professional, high quality salon.
They offer cuts, colors, processing, waxing and manicures.
Not only is their work exquisite, but the people who make up Vartali
Salon are even better- you might say they are a cut above the rest. (yeah,
yeah I know, but really they are.)
