Anytime I
hear that a new spa/
sal
on has opened in the city, I am doubtful that they can pull off the
necessary balance between these two related, but very different beauty
services. So when I was
invited in to Confidence Salon and Spa for a mani/pedi, a facial
and a haircut, well, let’s just say that I wasn’t filled with
confidence, but I was willing to check it out.
Upon
arriving to the 2nd story, light-filled space looking out onto
3rd Avenue
, it was clear that they knew how to physically divide the space in a
functional and creative way. The
mani/pedi stations are separated from the
sal
on by shelving for products and a built in fish tank, which is
entertaining no matter what you are there for.
The spa manager, Galina, greeted me and told me that we would do my
nails first, then the facial and end with the haircut so that I would be
best prepared to face the world when I left.
I was pleased with this scheduling as my nails would definitely be
dry when I left and my hairline would be free of the residue of my facial
once my hair was washed and dried. Sounded
perfect. Olga took me for my
pedicure to start and I was more than happy to relax in their massaging
pedicure chair seated right next to the window where I could people watch
from one flight up. After a
lovely pedicure and manicure as well, Olga introduced me to Elina, whom
she spoke very highly of as an aesthetician. This is usually a good sign
and I was excited to see what Elina had in store for me.
Elina lived up to her legend and then some.
Not only did she take extra steps to make sure I was initially
comfortable by dimming the lights and getting me an extra blanket, but she
gently explained everything she was doing in a conversational and relaxed
way. When I had a couple
problem areas that I had been concerned about, she explained what they
were, how to get rid of them, and then did!
I could not have been happier.
The facial was outstanding. Not
only the exfoliating and the moisturizing, as those steps always feel
good, but the facial and neck massage.
That’s what we want.. more massage!
Well, ladies, Elina not only hears us, but feels the same way.
“Anyone can exfoliate and moisturize at home, but when else can
you have your neck, shoulders and face massaged like this?”
Elina, I agree! Plus,
she is fantastic at what she does. So,
after 10 to 15 minutes of Elina massaging a moisturizer into my face and
neck, I felt clean, beautiful and relaxed.
I think it may have been the best facial I’ve ever had and it was
the massage that made the difference.
Once I had come to my senses a bit, I realized I now had beautifully dried
nails, a glowing face and all that was left was to fix my dull hair.
Elina escorted me back down the hall to the open
sal
on/pedicure area and I met Danielle, my stylist.
We talked for a few minutes about what I had been doing with my
hair, what I liked and she went to work.
I have just recently cut my hair shorter than it has been in 10
years, so I’m slightly particular at the moment.
Danielle did not disappoint. She
took everything I said, a pair of scissors, a razor and her abilities and
gave me a great haircut that was simple to do, but gave the appearance of
body at the same time(I have very thin hair).
It looked great and I felt great!
In about 3 hours I felt as though I had a total transformation and yet
nothing was rushed or out of order. Everything
seemed to have gone exactly the way it was meant to and that makes all the
difference. At a great
location and with really reasonable prices ladies, I have the utmost
confidence that you’ll be very pleased with any time spent at Confidence
Salon and Spa. If you
still have any doubts, just try the facial with Elina- that should do the
trick!
