Re-educate & re-juvenate
(Facial,
Manicure & Pedicure Review)
Allure Day Spa and Hair
Salon
I am a
girl who is obsessed with my skin, well not only my skin but products,
products, products. Anything that claims to tighten, firm, “turn back
the clock”, make your skin glow, erase sun damage- UGH- I have bought
them all. I think that I am doing the best thing for my skin, pampering
it. Boy was I wrong. And Ela at the Allure Day Spa and Hair Salon
set me straight and showed me the way.
As
I entered the quiet, marble room for my customized facial Ela made me feel
right at home. As I settled myself in on the table Ela used a deep pore
cleanser to wash my face and prepare it for the steaming. While steaming
she massaged my arms and hands and used hand warmers to relax and soften
my hands. After the steaming Ela diagnosed my skin. The verdict, product
overload. Evidently at 26 I don’t need all the wrinkle reducers and
heavy night creams and here I thought I was prepared and thinking ahead.
It turns out that all those layers of products, the sunscreen, eye cream
and moisturizer were creating a build-up that I was never washing off and
in turn it was suffocating my skin. Allure Day Spa’s philosophy
is that the skin is a living organ, the largest living organ and you must
nourish it and let it breathe. Then Ela began the extractions. This was
one of the most thorough extractions I have ever had. Ela released
blackheads on my face that I didn’t know where there. Who knew you get
blackheads on your cheeks? But no pain no gain. We had to get out all the
oil from the products that had become embedded deep in my pores. Then a
moisturizing mask was applied. Because
my skin couldn’t breathe it had become very dry. This mask was left on
for 10 minutes and then peeled off leaving my skin so incredibly soft. Ela
is an amazing facial masseuse. Her series of tapping on pressure points
and rhythmic massage relaxed my facial muscles into submission and led me
into a blissful meditation. Ela ended with a facial toner and not a
moisturizer. She warned me that my skin might feel a bit tight but that it
was important that it breathe. Ela also recommended a line of products
that Allure Day Spa has created called D.Ouceur. I took home
a deep pore cleanser, a toner and a light green tea moisturizer developed
for teens. The whole product line smelled so delicious.
Next
I was off to get my spa manicure and pedicure. Allure Day Spa
and Hair Salon is so wonderfully secluded tucked beneath the
55th Street
. As you walk into the door and down the marble candle lined stairs you
feel like royalty. I was given my choice of beverage, hot tea, right away
and was refilled twice, once because my cup was empty and the next time
simply because my teas had gone cold and all without asking. Rita started
on my toes. She was very specific asking questions about what shape I like
my nails as well as what type of services I wanted (calluses removed, foot
massage etc.). I usually get my manicures and pedicures from chain that
specializes in only nails and they just get the job done quickly and
inexpensively. It was so wonderful to get the full spa treatment on my
hands and feet. Rita took time to make sure that I felt pampered. Allure
Day Spa and Hair Salon has a wonderful array of products, not only
from their own line D.Ouceur, but others as well. I left feeling
like a pampered princess and of course a pampered princess leaving with
products, only this time they were the right ones for my skin.
