Romancing
The Stone
The Couple's
Stone Massage at Acqua Beauty Bar |
There is
simply no better place in New York City for a romantic couple’s
massage than the chic and romantic Acqua Beauty Bar. (And we
all know Valentine’s Day is prime time for this sweet service.) My
boyfriend, Michael, and I recently experienced Acqua’s Romancing the
Stone, a hot stone couple’s massage package, complete with parting
gift (more on that later.) From the time we walked in the door of this
Union Square jewel, we were treated like royalty, and gradually lulled
into a state of romantic intoxication.
Slipping
into a divinely soft robe, I was led to our private massage room. My
partner in pampering joined me within moments, and we began to relax in
the tranquility of the surroundings. Like giddy children, we speculated on
what the stone massage might be like, neither of us having any idea what
euphoria we were in for.
Our massage
therapists, Sam and Yola, entered the room shortly thereafter. I was like
puddy in Sam’s hands, while Michael melted under the knowledgeable touch
of Yola. With perfect pressure and warm oils, my day disappeared into the
comfort of the massage. And when the hot stones came out, it was a whole
new world of massage. I truly don’t know how to describe the feeling of
the hot, smooth, healing stone, kneading away the tension in my legs and
back, sliding along my muscles, between Sam’s hands. All I know is that
for that hour, nothing else seemed to matter. I heard Michael’s breath
as Yola released the tension in his neck, and I felt even more contented
to know that this experience was shared with the one I love.
Upon
leaving Acqua Beauty Bar, we were presented with an adorable
"Do Not Disturb" package, complete with massage oils, a
"Hunk of Burnin’ Love" candle, and more feisty
accouterments... you’ll have to discover on your own.
In short, Romancing
the Stone is one of the best steals in the city. On site,
you’re pampered into a romantic frenzy, and then you leave with all the
tools you’ll need for an evening of continued sweetness. What more could
the consummate NYC couple want for Valentine’s Day?
