Situated at street level with oversized windows facing West Broadway in
the heart of SoHo's art and shopping district, the 3000 square foot salon
has the feel of a left bank Parisian loft in Saint Germain des Pres.
Conceived and designed by Laurent's wife Fabienne Dufoug, the salon is
finished in a variety of rich materials. The entryway features natural
Italian stone flooring. Cabinetry and columns are made from rare
coffee-colored African Wenge wood with brushed aluminum details and
counter tops are topped with pure white crystaline marble. The entire
north wall of the salon is faced with large sand-colored bricks from 18th
century provencal French chateau. In contrast, the shampoo room is a cool
oasis, featuring environmental music and lined completely with a mosaic of
glass tiles in graduated tones ranging from dark to light shades of blue
and green. Finely-sanded pale coco beechwood flooring unites the central
portion of the salon, and floor to ceiling antique gold silk drapes lined
in shimmering copper separate the reception area from the main room.

Behind the scenes, Privé
features the most advanced technology in salon
equipment, including custom designed retractable pedicure chairs and
"Belmaster" color processors among other innovations. Customized
Italian lighting fixtures have been created to complement client's skin
tones and hair color, and stainless steel shampoo bowls by Takara Belmont
insure the utmost comfort. To meet the demand of his bi-coastal ventures,
Laurent D. will be commuting between all the three salons, spending ten
days in New York approximately every five weeks. As in Los Angeles and Las
Vegas, Laurent has carefully chosen a talented group of stylist and color
experts to complete his team. Key staff members include: celebrity
hairstylist Christina Rocha from Privé
Los Angeles; Scott Bond, a colorist
who established his reputation at Frederic Fekkai and John Barrett; Zoe
Cortez, a colorist from Brad Johns; Frederic Boudet who made the move from
Frederic Fekkai; and Stacey Lyn Weinstein, the queen of "updo's",
a veteran of film, TV and print work.
Top Hollywood makeup artist Thierry Pourtoy will be at the helm
of the makeup department, and his Palette Maquillage cosmetic line
will be offered exclusively through Privé
in New York.
Laurent D., famous for tending to the tresses of celebrities such as
Elisabeth Shue, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Denise
Richards, Sharon Stone, Yasmine Bleeth, Christopher Lambert, Shannon
